Korean Lessons ᚛ Level 5 - Intermediate Korean #2 (Lessons 121 to 150) ᚛ Lesson 148 - Being in accordance in Korean [대로]
In Korean, the expression 대로 allows us to express that a thing or an action is in accordance with something else or with another action. In English, we would translate this with expressions such as "in accordance with", "as" or "according to".
When something is in accordance with another thing, or when it is done according to some element, we use the following expression:
[Element in accordance]대로
가든지 말든지 네 마음대로 해.
→ Whether you go or not, do as you like.
예상대로 그 팀이 우승했다.
→ As expected, that team won.
설명대로 해 봤는데 작동하지 않아요.
→ I tried doing it as explained, but it doesn’t work.
나이 순서대로 앉으세요.
→ Please sit in order of age.
별 모양대로 그리세요.
→ Draw following the shape of the star.
모든 일이 뜻대로 되면 얼마나 좋을까?
→ How nice would it be if everything went the way we wanted?
