In this chapter, we will be learning how to express the concept of a movement with an origin (provenance) and a destination; this, with the aim of formulating expressions like "from ... to ...".
The particle 에서, which is useful when indicating a place where an action is taking place, is also used to indicate a provenance, while the particle 까지 is used to indicate a destination. They can be used together to express the concept of a departure and arrival from one place to another.
저는 집에서 학교까지 달려왔어요.
→ I came running from home to school.
홍대에서 명동까지 어떻게 가요?
→ How do I get from Hongdae to Myeongdong?
집에서 회사까지 걸어갑니다.
→ I walk from the house to the company.
지민이의 집에서 우리 집까지 엄청 멀어.
→ From Jimin's house to my house is really far.
