The suffix -네(요) is very often used in Korean and serves to exclaim about something. It would correspond to a written "!" or a spoken "oh!" in English.
The exclamative suffix is used in the following manner:
The suffix -네(요) is not used in the formal style.
In written Korean, it is possible to add an exclamation point to sentences that end with -네(요), but this suffix is sufficient by itself.
날씨가 좋네.
→ It’s good weather!
민지 오늘 정말 예쁘네.
→ Minji is really beautiful today!
이 파스타 정말 맛있네요.
→ This pasta is really delicious!
재현 씨는 여자친구랑 왔네요.
→ Jaehyeon came with his girlfriend!
어? 일찍 일어났네.
→ Oh? You got up early!
미은이 요리 진짜 잘하네.
→ Mieun is really good at cooking!
또 거짓말하네.
→ You're lying again!
비 와서 소풍 못 가겠네.
→ Because it's raining, we won’t be able to go for a picnic.
철수 씨 정말 성실하시네요.
→ Cheolsu, you work really hard!
Particles are omnipresent in Korean. They indicate the role of words in a sentence, nuance meaning, and make it possible to understand who does what, where, how, and why.
Particles are also often the aspect that causes the most difficulty for Korean learners. In grammar books, they are usually presented in the middle of long sentences, with complex vocabulary, without being clearly highlighted.
